WELCOME TO
DELLHEL.COM
AKA
DELHELL.COM
(
DELLHELL.COM

I
blogged some time
a go that we had a big problem with a Dell XPS workstation we purchased last year. After endless time on the phone with many, many support and account managers, Dell finally did manage to replace our broken workstation (Dell technicians broke the computer). It only took about 2 months for Dell to do this by the way and in the mean while we had to buy a spare PC to do our work.
So, early this week, we got a new Dell XPS 720 system. To my surprise it was the same model as the previous one, even after I had repeatedly demand a different configurations due to the fact that there is something wrong with this model (video drives for Vista and the video card for example do not work right and all three companies blame each other - Dell, MSFT and Nvidia).
There was a change - we got more RAM memory, but there is a problem here as well. In the old system we had a fast 2GB 1066 MHz RAM (or something) and expensive RAM, and now we got 4 GB of cheaper and slower 800 MHz (or something) RAM. On top, it is my understanding that Microsoft VISTA only supports 3 GB of RAM and the rest gets used by the video. Well, we do have a video monster card with 768 MB RAM, so I am not sure how this even works any more.
The best part I left for last, as you can understand from the title of this cry blog post is that the new system has the same problems we had before. So, DELL has send us a NEW - BAD PC again. Yesterday, only days after my CTO Nick finally transferred all his data back to the new HD, he got the same problems and even a BLUE screen on this new XPS 720 DELL. The funny thing was that we have been using the top of the line DELL's ultra sharp 24" monitor with the PC.
So, Mr. Dell, I don't know what to do any more, please help me with this latest problem or I will have to curse your company from now on. I will NOT order or recommend any more DELL servers or PC's for my company or my clients and I will go with HP or IBM. I will tell RackSpace to replace my Dell servers with generic ones if I can. I am pissed off at this point. I just don't get it any more. What did we do to you other than order your products for hundred of thousands of $$$ since 1994 and I mean I must have bought hundreds of PC's, monitors, laptops and many, many servers for my clients or the companies where I worked (big financial companies). Why are we having these problems and what is DELL going to do about it.
