The Blogtronix Enterprise platform is a powerful communication, collaboration and social networking tool. The platform is built around the concept that a community of users (business, social, government, educational, etc.) would benefit powerfully, if the next generation tools being produced as Web 2.0 products, could be combined effectively into one platform, with extensive enterprise level security, rights management and the key ability to easily and quickly allow the formation of an unlimited number of groups and subgroups to mimic any organizational structure or need. These groups may mimic an organizations permanent departmental structure, or they may have short lives, as tools for projects, research or event management.
The Blogtronix platform is built on .NET 2.0, has LDAP/Active Directory, and is available as SaaS, software or secure appliance. The tools of the platform; blog, wiki, document manager, RSS and a social networking engine, when combined, become a powerful tool which enables and enhances productivity, communication and collaboration. These tools let the “best knowledge” of a group of users, synthesize their ideas and aid in their creativity, to produce documents of “best ideas” and “best practices”.
The group is the focal point of the platform. Each group exists as a unique place, and may be either a public group, or a private group, whose members are admitted by invitation only. Each group has its own blog, wiki, document manager, RSS reader, administration module, and statistics toolbox. Each enterprise platform member has their own unique, individual profile.
The blog is the focal point of each group. This is the place where the members can post their ideas, reports, announcements; make comments, rate the creativity, usefulness and value of posts. This all occurs in real time with out the spam, tracking and security (attachment) problems associated with email. The blogs become a powerful enabler, by allowing group members to easily search for content and/or interest by user, category, tags, tag clouds and keywords.
The wiki is where a group can collaboratively build a document on any topic of interest. All revisions of each wiki document are saved, and may be compared with any previous version. Content is never lost, even if a password is stolen and documents are accidentally or maliciously deleted, they can always be recovered.
The document manager allows the users to upload and make available to the group virtually any document, audio or video media type.
The text editor works equally well on either a Mac or PC, and the platform may be accessed using a Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari or Opera browsers.
RSS allows the group and individuals to subscribe to important news sources from any feed source, whether internal or external. There is even a feature unique to Blogtronix called "Autoposting", that will automatically post an article through an RSS feed to a group blog space. This feed can be category filtered for content. A “public” group can even post category filtered content through RSS to another group with similar interests within the platform.
The social networking engine is one of the most powerful and useful tools in the Blogtronix tool box. This tool allows each user to build and maintain both a personal and professional profile. The profile may include their interests and hobbies, work history, professional training and educational background, special licenses or certificates, (the amount of user viewable content in the personal profile may be controlled within the administrative toolbox). The personal profile enables members of an enterprise community to build relationships with their colleagues, by searching for and finding those with common interests or backgrounds. It enables powerful “Expert Finding”, where you may search for someone within your enterprise, for a specific skill set, job experience, educational or training background, language fluency or geographic location.
With the ever increasing need for enterprises to comply with document and correspondence preservation and archiving needs, the Blogtronix Platform as a “Retention Solution” is becoming increasingly relevant and important. All blog communication, wikis and documents within the platform are backed up, archived and always available, with their complete revision history. When an employee leaves a firm, usually all of their files, emails and contact database information is backed up and archived where it can’t be accessed or easily searched (essentially lost forever to the enterprise). Within the Blogtronix platform, when a user leaves, his/her access rights are rescinded, but all of the contacts, and documents generated by that user remain; fully searchable, accessible and useable by the enterprise.
